AI Max for Search
AI Max is Google's fastest-growing AI search product. It layers AI features on top of your existing Search campaigns — not a new campaign type, but a set of targeting and creative enhancements. Performance Max Upgrades

Gemini-Powered Creative Tools
Gemini usage in Google Ads exploded — nearly 70 million creative assets were generated in Q4 2025 alone (a 3x increase year-over-year). New tools include Veo 3 for video generation in Asset Studio, plus AI-powered video extension and automatic aspect ratio resizing.
Text Guidelines (February 2026)
On February 26, 2026, Google opened text guidelines to all advertisers worldwide in both AI Max and Performance Max. This acts as a governance layer — you define what the AI is and isn't allowed to write, while text customization generates headlines and descriptions in real time to match search intent.
Ads in AI Overviews & AI Mode
Google expanded ads in AI Overviews to desktop and more countries globally. They're also testing ads in AI Mode in the US — giving advertisers access to moments where people ask deeper, more complex questions on Search.
Meta Ads: Advantage+ Is Now the Default
Andromeda — The Engine Behind Everything
Meta completed the global rollout of Andromeda in October 2025 — the new ad retrieval engine that decides which ads get considered before ranking even happens. Andromeda processes over 15 million new ad creatives monthly and fundamentally shifted Meta's approach: advertisers now provide creative variety, and the algorithm controls everything else.
Advantage+ Leads Campaigns
One of the biggest 2025 changes — Advantage+ now supports lead generation, not just online sales. This brings AI automation to a whole new category of advertisers.
AI Creative Tools
With Advantage+ Creative, one product photo can now turn into dozens of versions with different backgrounds, colors, and layouts — automatically sized for every placement. Meta is moving toward a Generative Ad Model (GEM) where advertisers will simply provide a product URL, budget, and basic prompt, and AI generates the entire campaign.
New Metrics: Creative Fatigue & Similarity
Meta rolled out Creative Fatigue and Creative Similarity scores. High Creative Similarity raises your CPMs because Andromeda treats repetitive content as less valuable. This means creative variety is now directly tied to cost efficiency.
Attribution Changes
Engaged-view attribution became standard with the threshold dropping from 10 seconds to 5. Incremental attribution lets you optimize for conversions that only happened because of your ad — a significant shift in how Meta measures value.
TikTok Ads: Smart+ Gets Smarter

TikTok announced major Smart+ upgrades on January 21, 2026:

TikTok's generative AI tools are now built directly into Smart+. Symphony offers Recommended Creatives (generates TikTok-ready videos from your product URL) and Automatic Enhancements (optimizes video quality, resizes for vertical, refreshes hooks, and translates content into 50+ languages).
Smart+ Catalog Ads
Smart+ Catalog Ads convert static product catalogs into optimized shoppable ads. In closed beta, advertisers saw a 36% drop in CPA versus manual campaigns.
